About Dilly Dally’s Art
As a daughter of an author, the artist, Lauren Dykes, grew up with an appreciation for books. She wanted to find a way to give these discarded books a longer shelf life. Collaborating with Chaz Dykes, Dilly Dally’s was created.
By using different techniques, Dilly Dally’s transforms the book pages, creating images, words, and logos into hand-crafted custom art, all the while, telling a story.

What is book folding?
Book folding is an art where each page is altered by cut and/or folding to create fun and unique designs.
How do I customize an order?
Send us an email with the design idea you want folded/cut into the pages. We will then collaborate to create a one of a kind work of art. You can also customize your order with a particular book or favorite author. The more pages the better.
How much does a custom order cost?
Pricing depends on the intricacy of the design. Custom orders range from $75 to $125.
How long from when I order the book will I receive it?
It all depends on the intricacy of the design and the technique used; 6-36 hours. (But I try not to time myself.)
What books do you use?
We primarily upcycle used hardcover books with at least 500+ pages in good condition.
Do I provide the book?
You can provide the book or we can find you an appropriate book for your occasion.
What are the techniques used in book folding?
- Just a fold: images pop out
- Cut and fold: images are inset
- Combi: outer measurements are folded and the inner measurements are cut in
- Shadow effect: every other page is altered by cutting which creates a wonderful silhouette
